Is your child having difficulty transitioning from training wheels to two-wheeled bike riding?

Spinning Wheels

Spinning wheels teaches the foundations of bike riding to kids 7 years and up with the main goal of independent two-wheeled bike riding at the completion of the course. Mounting, dismounting, "catching" balance, and pushing with feet on the ground are the basics that will be addressed prior to riding.

Prerequisites

  • Child can follow instructions given to a group
  • Child can ride a bike with training wheels
  • Child is motivated to ride a two-wheeler

Requirements

Spinning Wheels
  • Bike without training wheels (not needed until the 3rd week of class)
  • Bike should be just the right size, or even a little too small, so that the child can place his/her feet FLAT on the ground while seated
  • Helmet (knee and elbow pads are optional)
  • Practice outside the class in instrumental in achieving success. Follow-through activities for parents will be provided at the 1st class meeting.
