Message from the President

The Abilities Center continues to thrive and move forward, helping more children and families reach their full potential. We are proud of our accomplishments, but will not rest until all children receive early, appropriate intervention. The staff at the Abilities Center are working hard to provide the most effective, advanced practices available based on research, experience, and what families tell us.

There are many challenges ahead. The state continues to cut services to our community mental health system, schools, and early intervention programs. Insurance companies have added exclusions and limitations to our policies making reimbursement for children's therapy more and more difficult. These and other challenges have forced many families to cut back and do without, even when it comes to the health and well being of their children.

At the Abilities Center, we are challenged to develop new, creative ways to deliver the necessary services and supports to children and their families. We are bringing nationally renowned experts to our community to ensure parents and professionals are kept abreast of the advances that may benefit their children.

We are excited about the collaborative relationships we have developed which will enable us to impact more children as cost effectively as possible. We are committed to providing services in the community as well as at our clinic in Walled Lake.

Check our website regularly for up-to-date information on our programs and services. We hope you will find the website helpful and user friendly. Join our online forum today. You can now register on line for our programs, workshops and conferences. Communicate with our therapists through email. In an effort to stay in touch with the needs of our families and community we are developing an advisory committee at the Abilities Center. If you are interested in participating, please email me at for further information.

Thank you to all those who have supported and contributed to the Abilities Center's success. We will continue to work together to the best of our abilities.
