A Camp for All Kids...
At Able Abe's Awesome Summer Camp, Campers in grades K – 3 enjoy a full or half day of camp at Birmingham Covington School where they participate in exciting activities that offer recreation, social skills, academics, arts and crafts, friends and fun. Planned and coordinated by a team of occupational, physical and speech therapists, Able Abe's Awesome Summer Camp accommodates all campers, regardless of special needs. Small groups are supported by highly trained counselors, ensuring an awesome camp experience for every child.
Campers participate in daily activity blocks including:
Wiggles and Jiggles
Sensory motor activities use imaginary play, songs, games and movement designed for campers of all abilities. Obstacle courses, organized games and mini sports enhance development in an engaging environment that encourages active and spirited participation by all campers.

Spongebob University
Campers have the opportunity to use part of their camp experience to develop and enhance academic skills including organization, study skills and memory enhancement activities. A special education teacher focuses on handwriting, reading, science and math concepts, using fun activities that build confidence and success for every camper at every level.
Build A Snack
Able Abe Campers are encouraged to play with their food! We build fun food snacks, working with fine motor, tactile and other sensory issues. Then we eat our awesome food creations! Special dietary needs are addressed on an individual basis.
Motor Mouths
Music and storytelling are used to enhance language, oral motor and social skills. Campers enhance verbal skills while learning to build friendships, singing, laughing and creating lasting memories.
Movers and Shakers
Gross motor movement is used in this activity block as campers learn traditional camp songs and corresponding movements. Musical instruments, parachutes and games provide fun and laughter while building social skills including hellos, good-byes and expressive emotions.
Doodle Time
Arts and crafts are used to enhance fine motor and hand writing skills, spatial relationships and confidence. Campers learn to express themselves through art work, using different mediums to provide many tactile experiences. Self confidence increases as campers develop an awareness of their own abilities!
